All online courses at UCF are housed on the Reach server. The convention used to access courses at UCF is:

http://reach.ucf.edu/~_______

The blank represents the course prefix and number. For example, you would access syg2000 with the following web site address:

http://reach.ucf.edu/~syg2000

Once you get to the main course site, you will see that the course is divided into two main areas:

  1. Reach (the publicly accessibly area) and
  2. WebCT (password protected area of the course.)

 Reach:

In the Reach area (the publicly accessible area) of the course, you will generally find course information related to the following:

  • Syllabus: Contains course-related information found in a traditional syllabus
  • Schedule: Provides an outline of important dates and sequence of classes and learning modules
  • Protocols: Delineates rules and guidelines important for your performance and conduct throughout the course
  • Class Login: Provides access to the password-protected area of the course
  • eCommunity: Provides an avenue to build learning communities by listing the instructor, students enrolled in the course, their e-mail addresses, and biographies.
  • Learning Online site: a resource for students enrolled in online courses.

 WebCT:

In WebCT, the password-protected area of the course, you will find specifics about assignments, quizzes, and course materials. Generally, faculty members provide access to the password-protected sections only after you have registered and the term has begun. As mentioned above, you access this area of the course by clicking on the Class Login button and using the UCF login conventions.
